Duncreggan Residential Home

Duncreggan ImageDuncreggan Residential Home, situated in the centre of Portrush, provides residential care and accommodation for 21 people. Fourteen bedrooms, seven of which are twin rooms, all have panoramic sea views, stretching from the Foyle and Donegal to the west, right across to the Scottish shores to the east. The 18th century building provides the most tranquil of environments, decorated to the highest standard, we have been careful to ensure that the furnishings and adaptations are sympathetic to the period architecture, whilst providing a safe and welcoming atmosphere.

Our team of staff are led and supervised by Sonia Bradley, the Home Manager. The home has staff on duty 24 hours per day, with two wakened night staff being on from 10:00pm to 8:00am each night, to assist residents with any needs through the night. Daytime staff are on duty from 7:00am until 10:00pm with the team change over being at 3:00pm. Staff are inducted and trained to assist with a full range of needs, from personal care right through to supporting residents with various health or social appointments.

We try hard to steer clear of the more ’typical’ care home life, by making Duncreggan Porchour service delivery as individual as possible for each service user. This means putting each client at the centre of his/her package of care and developing the supports and assistance from there. We work to facilitate active lives for our clients, both socially and physically, supporting employment and education based placements, through to positions at local resource centres. We believe that people should be citizens of their community, so we encourage the use of local community facilities, rather than simply those services and groups that are set up specifically for people with learning disabilities.

Duncreggan HallRegistered by the Regulation and Quality Improvement Authority, Duncreggan has been continually evaluating and developing its service provision to ensure the best for our clients. Our Inspection reports, available from the RQIA, evidence our continual efforts to progress and develop.
